I have done more work to this painting.
Before I started this session it looked like this.
I have done more work to the figures and have added Latin phrases to the scrolls.
Once it has had some time to dry, I will do more work to tidy the lettering.
I soon decided to make the lettering light and dark grey, rather than black, as it worked better with the general balance of the composition.
The Latin is appropriate to the subject and I have deliberately let parts of the phrases be obscured by the turns and junction points of the scrolls. This is symbolic of mankind's inability to recognise the obvious...
The painting now looks like this.
