Here is a close-up of the kingfisher:
I am please with the way the water splashes and droplets have come out.

I have done some more work to the painting.
I have tightened up the daffodils and heightened the colour of the Purple Emperor and Peacock butterflies.
I have also done more work to the fore ground and middle ground grass and leaves.
It now looks like this:
I think it might be finished, but ( as usual ) I will live with it for a bit just to make sure.

Many years ago I used to make the 54 mm Airfix models, mostly of Napoleonic soldiers.
I adapted several of these ( including making a dismounted Scots Grey holding a beer mug).
I had also made a couple of English Civil War models and , it seems I had acquired quite a few spare bits, including some bits that might be from a French Foreign legionary.
I used these to make this Science Fiction mercenary ( or possibly Strontium Dog ).
This was originally painted mostly black, with a few silver highlights and the long gun was slung across the back.
I recently decided to alter and repaint it.
