Three Boys Bag

I often carry a sketchbook and other stuff around at science fiction conventions .

This is a small book bag I painted for this purpose.

I decided I’d like three sexy young men nearly dressed in leather...

Soldier screen

My husband, Teddy, collects ball-jointed dolls. These are displayed in our front room.

Towards the end of the year the low sun shines directly into the far corners of the room and risks fading both the face-paints and clothes of the dolls.

As I didn’t  want  the curtains permanently closed, I made this screen  for him by hinging three canvases together.

Painting the canvases not only made it more pleasant to look at, but also increased the protection it provides.

As you can see, I was able to choose the subject matter and picked Napoleonic uniforms.

The uniforms are an officer of the lancer squadron of the Duke of Brunswick, a sergeant of the 71st regiment of British line infantry and an officer of French Empress’s Dragoons of the Imperial Guard.

Spirit of oak

This small oil was another experiment in composition.

Most painting of human figures within trees are painted with their arms raised, branch-like, above them.

I want to see if I could paint a convincing tree-spirit with his arms downwards.

Amphibian Reign

I am fond of puns and Jeux des mots.

This is one of a series of cartoons based on a phrase that should be obvious...

Spirits of air.

I recently completed this acrylic painting.

This is another that falls into the ‘letting my subconscious out for a jog’ category.

Short of deciding that this would be sky/ air/wind  based, I let the painting lead me where it would- until it told me it as finished.
